Alexander H. Graham, farmer and stock raiser, Graham township, section 25, post- office Oasis. Born in Muskinghum county OH, in 1384 (1834); came to Iowa with his father, Andrew Graham (now deceased), in 1850, and settled in Graham township. Purchased of the Government 900 acres of land for $1.25 per acre. Was the first to settle in the prairie, there being a few settlers at that time in the timber along the creeks. There was only two settlements in the township at that time. Mr. Graham was married in 1854 to Miss Mary Dyarnett of Zanesville, OH, and has four children living: Hattie, who attended Mt. Vernon College, and is now living with her husband, Mr. E.C. Shankland, in Lexington county, MO; oldest son, Andrew, who also attended Mr. Vernon College, now living at home with his parents; Miss Cora I., youngest daughter, graduated at Iowa City Academy, June, 1881, now attending State University at Iowa City; Eddie youngest son, living with his parents.
