Van Ness, Post Office Address, Perry, Ohio. This farm consists of 30 acres located on the Call Road, one mile from Perry, its principal market. Soil products and poultry raising are the general industries of this little farm. A never-failing creek and well furnish its water supply. A farm residence of five rooms, barn and corn house complete its building improvements. The farms surface is level and its soil a gravely loam. The first settler was Caleb Van Ness, in 1840 and from him the title passed to the present owner. Henry R. Van Ness was born in Barry, Orleans County., New York, the family removing thence to Chautaugua County., New York and from there to the present homestead. He was married to Mary Frawley, November 9, 1909. He is the only survivor of a family of nine children born to Caleb and Phoebe Van Ness and has resided on Homestead farm continuously for 70 years. He saw service both in the United States Army and Ohio Militia.
