The name is derived from a grove of cherry trees on the place. Dairying and fruit are the principal industries. The dairy contains 15 head of registered Guernsey's, and the daily product is 37 gallons of milk and five gallons of pure cream. The water supply is obtained from well, pumped by gasoline engine and the supply is bountiful. The building improvements are modern in all respects, barns being furnished with cement floors and maintained at all times in a sanitary condition. A natural gas well is located on the farm and the residence and other building are lighted by this natural gas. The farm's surface is level and the soil a clay and gravely loam. Mr. Peterson purchased a part of this farm from George Hanshaw in 1890, the remaining being purchased at a later date. He is one of the progressive farmers of this section and his farm is in the front rank of many good farms of this county.
