Andrew Wolfe was born in York County, Pennsylvania on January 9, 1796.  His father's
name was 
Conrad but his mother's name is unknown. Andrew had 5 known siblings: Peter (a
half-brother), 
George, Jacob, Mary and Henry.  When Andrew's father died, his mother was unable to
care for him so 
he was bound out to work to a farmer.  He served part of his time with a guardian
named Mr. Krouster.  
His unexpired time was bought by a Mr. Weaver, where he remained until he was 21
years old.  He then 
went to live with the Gerber brothers where he learned the trade of carpentry.  The
Gerber brothers 
built houses and Swiss bank barns in the area around Lancaster and York Counties,
Pennsylvania.  It 
was while working for the Gerbers that Andrew met Salome Gerber, the youngest 
sister of the Gerber 
brothers. 

Andrew and Salome married October 18, 1819 in York County, Pennsylvania.  Their
first three children
(Jacob, Mary and Elizabeth) were born in Pennsylvania. In 1831 they came to Knox
County, Ohio where 
Andrew followed farming.  It was while in Knox County that their other children were
born: Daniel 
March (1831), Sarah Ann (1832), Caroline (1833), Rose (1838) and Jeremiah
Bell(1840).  They moved to 
Richland County in 1844 where they farmed for about 9 years, after which they moved
to Ballville 
Township, Sandusky County.  The Wolfe's were members of the Methodist Protesant
Church in Knox 
County but later became members of the Church of the United Brethern.  Politically
Mr. Wolfe was an 
Old-line Whig but then became a Republican.  

Andrew died April 21, 1873 at the home of his son, Daniel, in Ballville township. 
He was 77 years old.  
Salome lived another 11 years, dying on November 4, 1884 at the age of 87 years,
also cared for at the 
home of Daniel.
