COBB, OSCAR A., Dover, Ottokee p.o., a pioneer of Dover township, was born in Griswald, New London county, Conn., in 1817, and settled in Fulton county in 1846. He was married in 1841 to PHEBE L. KNAPP, of New York city. They have had a family of six children, two of whom are now living, ALBERT and DORA. Three died at early ages and one, ERNEST G., was born in 1843, enlisted in Company A, 67th Ohio Regiment, in 1862 and was discharged in 1863 on account of disability. He died at home in March 1863. PHEBE was the daughter of ARCHIBOLD W. and BETSEY KNAPP, who settled in Dover township in 1846, where they died. PHEBE is the only surviving one of the family. Mr. COBB was a son of ANSON S. and NANCY (KINGSLEY) COBB. ANSON S. was born in 1791 and died in April, 1843. His wife, NANCY, was born in 1791, and died November 17, 1885. They were married November 25, 1809, and in 1831 settled in Delaware county, N.Y., where they died. They had a family of seven children, four of whom are now living: MARY E., OSCAR A., LUCY S., and ELISHA G. OSCAR A. was a sheriff of Fulton county four years, from 1860 to 1864, and director of the infirmary two terms. He has also held other minor offices. He settled on his present farm in 1865, paying $8 per acre for it and now has one of the finest farms in the county.
