Motschman, Sr. The Shultz Family of Darke County, Ohio The Biography of Leah Shultz Daughter of George Jacob Shultz and Elizabeth Creager by Francis D. Motschman, Sr. Like her sister Elizabeth, Leah was happy with her lot, working on her parents farm. She too, had to be nudged to take up a more active social life and like her sister she was successful in this endevor. She met and developed a mutual friendship with Silas Riffle which culminated in marriage. Leah was born on Fri., March 23, 1832 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Silas was born Abt. 1830 and they were married on Sun., April 24, 1859 in Darke County, Ohio. He was 29 and she was 27 years old. Silas and Leah had a total of five children during their marriage. They are, in order 1. Odella Riffle born in September, 1860 and died on Mon., August 19, 1861. Eleven months old. 2. Florence May born Thu., November 5, 1860 in Richland Twp., Darke County, Ohio. She died Sun., November 8, 1931 in Darke County, Ohio. She married Frank Heckler Jobes on Wed., October 26, 1887. 3. Elmer O. born Sat., December 27, 1862 in Richland Twp., Darke County, Ohio 4. Leon M. born Mon., January 6, 1868 and who died on Sat., June 12, 1869, living just a year and a half. 5. Grace A. born Tue., November 18, 1873 in Brown Twp., Darke County, Ohio. Married John Calvin Wesley Coppess on Sun., June 7, 1903 in Darke County, Ohio. Grace died on Sat., February 2, 1957 in Greenville Twp., Darke County, Ohio. Silas died in Ansonia, Darke County, Ohio on Tue., August 6, 1895. Leah passed away 26 years later in the home of her Son-in-law, Frank Heckler Jobes, 122 Market St., Greenville, Ohio on Sun., January 2, 1921.
